🇩🇪 Rolf Wilfried Jacob is a machine on Day1A!

Entries 334/ Left 107

The first act of the EPM 2 Million Main Event concludes after eight levels of play, advancing 107 players to the second phase on Sunday. This phase will bring together qualifiers from Day 1A and Day 1B until 12% of the field is reached.

Today, there were 334 entries, including 261 unique players and 73 re-entries: exceptional numbers, considering this was only the opening day.

The best performance of the day goes to German Rolf Wilfred Jakob (pic below), who managed to bag 566,300 chips after winning a huge pot in the last level of play, as he told us at the end of the day:

I feel good, 10 minutes after the end of the day, I get dealt Aces (pic below), the player to my right opens, I decide to flat-call, SB 3-bets about 12K, the original raiser flats, and I 4-bet to 40K, with only the SB calling.

The flop is A-2-3, I c-bet about 1/4 pot, and he calls. The turn is another 2: check to check. The river is another 3, SB bets about 60K, I go all-in for over 200K, and SB calls with A-Q. It's a monster pot that allowed me to get here with around 300 BB or so.

How is it to play 80-minute levels? Fantastic, you can play poker and not, as often happens, stay short-stacked and hope for a lucky double-up. You have time to wait for the right hands and make the best choices. The field has noticed this difference, and I have generally seen tighter players because, in the end, you have to wait…

I went over an hour without seeing a decent hand and then found myself 4-betting with J-J, with my opponent going all-in directly: I folded because why risk it when you have so many blinds and so much time available!

The Top 5

The second in today's count hides behind the nickname Pasa. He comes from Germany and boasts 508,300 chips, followed by another German, Marco Jansen, with 497,100 chips.

Rounding out the top 5 are Romanian Nicusor Matei, with 430,900 chips, followed by German HD-48, with 399,200 chips. Below is the complete list of all 107 qualifiers from Day 1A (Part 1).
