Here we are from the GCPoker Room in Bendern, Liechtenstein, reporting on the Warriors Main event which kicked off today with a rather lively Day1 A given the "Special Price" set at CHF320.
Ninety-two players made it to the start at 18:00 this evening, and including 47 re-entries, the total number of entries was 139 - not a bad number for the opening day.
At the end of the day there were 20 who had the privilege of bagging a stack ahead of Day 2, although to be fair the only one who rejoiced was Nicola Diaco. The reason? At the end of the day, his stack was close to 300 big blinds when the tournament average was around 50. Simply incomparable to the rest of the field.
A performance like that on a Day1, with such a gap from the second, is not an easy thing to see, and it is probably the first time we are telling you about it on these pages.
The Top 5
In addition to the extraordinary performance of Italian Nicola Diaco, chip leader with 1,392,000, the Swiss Nabil El Hage, who at the end of the Day can boast 445,000 chips (about 90BB), also stands out.
