Entries 113/ Left 21
Day 1E of The Warriors Main Event, the first of the two flights scheduled for today, also comes to an end. A total of 113 entries were recorded, but only 21 players managed to secure a spot for Day 2 tomorrow.
The Italian Antonio Iannei (pic below) achieved the day's best performance with 543,000 chips. Here are his statements at the end of the day.
"Honestly, I've only been playing Texas Hold'em for a year. Before, I used to play 5-card draw, but I hadn't played poker for about 15 years and only recently got back into it. I'm very happy with what I've achieved today; I certainly didn't expect to finish on top of everyone.
The hand that launched me? I decided to call with Queens. A reasonably aggressive opponent was raised. I re-raised, he went all-in, I called and found myself up against A-10. Fortunately, the board didn't show any Aces, 10s, or straights, and I managed to double my stack, bringing me above 400,000 chips.
Apart from that, I won a few more small pots, and in the end, it went well. Let's hope to do better in the coming days. Personally, it's the first time I've finished as the chip leader on Day 1. I'd sign up for a fourth-place finish, but I know that once I'm there, it wouldn't be enough anymore. We all know this fantastic game!"
The Top 5
The top five positions, except for the chip leader of the day, are held by the Israeli Igor Donin (his nickname), who is second with 399,000 chips, followed by another Italian, Fabian Egger, who has 294,000 chips.
The fourth position goes to the third Italian in the series, Luca Dazio (287,000), while Geri Dakota completes the top 5 from Switzerland with 262,000 chips. Below is the complete count with all 21 qualifiers for Day 2 from Day 1E.
