A higher turnout than on Day1 C was expected, and so it was. With 49 single players and 17 re-entries, a total of 66 entries was almost double.
There were no striking performances among the qualifiers, with the day's chip leader just managing to exceed 400,000 chips, and another 11 players joining the 43 already sure to take part in Sunday's Day2.
Adding up the numbers of the four flights played so far, we arrive at 333 entries and 54 qualifiers, while waiting of course for the last three Day 1s scheduled between today and Sunday morning.
The top 5
Pictured below is the day's chip leader, Germany's Johann Schamne, who closed with 408,000 chips on a day that began in the late afternoon and ended in the best possible way late into the night, as he confirmed:
"I'm very satisfied but I have to admit that I had a lot of luck, especially towards the end of the Day, to come out on top. It's still early to draw conclusions, we'll see how it goes on Sunday!"
We don't know if Lady Luck reserved the same treatment for Mateusz Pawel Lipka, but the Polish player took second place thanks to the 400,000 chips he bagged at the end of the day, followed at a distance by the usual Andrea Roner (280,000), a constant presence in the Eurorounders circuit tournaments and often at the bottom of the most important tournaments.
Fourth and fifth positions belong respectively to the Italian Claudio Baldini (251,000) and the Swiss Ines Thoeni (232,000). Worth mentioning in 10th position is another name that is rather hot in our parts, the Swiss "Nokia 3210" who closes with 163,000 chips.
