Entries 50/ Left 5
The first day of the CNP Main Event, the Circuito Nacional de Poker lasts from August 12 to 19. With a guaranteed prize pool of 1 million euros and a buy-in of 370 euros, the event concludes with five qualifiers out of 50 entries.
As often happens in the early Day 1s, attendance was mainly limited to local regulars with a few occasional players, and the numbers, although low, are in line with those recorded on other occasions.
The best performer today, speaking of local regulars, was Frenchman Axel Bayout, who, at the end of the day, can boast 650,000 chips, just one big blind more than Czech Petr Satek, who is in second place with 638,000. Here are his thoughts immediately after:
“What happened today? It’s that I’m a genius at the game, so I always finish on top… - Axel jokes - But jokes aside, everything went perfectly, I had some great tables, especially one of the last ones where the chip leader at that time lost a lot of chips in some 3-bet pots.
This allowed me to accumulate a nice stack in the final phase of the day, and the rest was just a matter of managing it.”
The Top 5
Today’s Top 5, interestingly, coincides with the total number of qualifiers. We’ve already revealed two of them: Axel Bayout and Petr Satek, who are in first and second place with 650,000 and 638,000 chips, respectively.
The third place is occupied by another French regular, Rachid El Yaccoubi, who finishes with 590,000 after reaching the 8-left stage with just 20 big blinds. The Germans Wang Chen (321,000) and Sandor Ambrus complete the Top 5. Below is the table with the top five positions.
