Entries 71/ left 7
The third chapter of this week’s games here at King’s Resort in Rozvadov took place today with Day 1C of the CNP Main Event, the flight with the most entries so far, although the weekend numbers are expected to be on a whole different level.
71 buy-ins were recorded, bringing seven more players to Day 2 on Sunday, adding to the 8 who advanced from the first two flights. The German player ‘Chin Buffet’ stole the spotlight after a final hand that was nothing short of spectacular.
Since he didn’t want to reveal his identity, we didn’t have the pleasure of interviewing him at the end of the day, but we can still share the action with you. The absolute star was Arturo Paduano (pic above), currently the chip leader, who opened from UTG with a bet of 25,000 (blinds were at 6,000/12,000 with a 12,000 ante) and faced a squeeze all-in from Daniel Granov for around 400,000 chips. The squeeze was justified because the big blind had only five blinds left, generating some ‘dead money’ to be claimed.
However, from the small blind, ‘Chin Buffet’ decided to go all-in himself for around 220,000 chips. The big blind also joined the action with K-Jo, which prompted Arturo Paduano to consider calling with 8-6 offsuit. It was a bold choice, no doubt, but one that put him in contention for a pot of over a million chips.
The board of 5-10-10-9-6 allowed him to win the side pot and maintain nearly the same stack, while Granov was forced to leave the table with great disappointment, as did the big blind player. Meanwhile, ‘Chin Buffet’ with K-K could only celebrate an unexpected chip lead.
The Top 5
In addition to the unsuspecting protagonist ‘Chin Buffet’ with 724,000 chips, we have Hungarian Janos Dudas (pictured above) with 693,000 chips, followed by the German player ‘Luli’ with 679,000.
The Top 5 is completed by Arturo Paduano (607,000) and ‘Kapphino’ (383,000). Below is the full list of the 7 players who qualified for Day 2 from Day 1C
