Entries 2.835/ Left 48
Day 2 of the EPM Main Event with a CHF 1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool concluded well past 4 AM. Spoiler alert: thanks to 2,835 total entries, the prize pool skyrocketed to CHF 1,469,650, making it the second-largest in Liechtenstein’s history, trailing only last year’s WPT Prime, which amassed over CHF 1.7 million, albeit with a CHF 1,000 buy-in.
However, two records were set: the highest number of entries in a single flight (664) and the highest number of entries in a single tournament (2,835), surpassing the previous record by over 1,000 entries, also held by the WPT Prime.
Stealing the spotlight on such a historic day for poker in Liechtenstein was Denis Gergoc, an Albanian player based in Switzerland, who bagged an impressive 11,140,000 chips—nearly three times the tournament average. Here’s what he had to say immediately after:
“I started with 950,000, a great starting stack, and got off to an excellent start. After a few levels, though, the momentum shifted, and I experienced a lot of ups and downs. Between the eighth and ninth levels, I began getting strong starting hands and was able to maximize their value with solid post-flop play.
I think I played excellent poker—I don’t recall making any mistakes. The field is strong, I feel great, and overall, the tournament has an excellent structure, which makes it a pleasure to play. To be honest, EPM has always been a fantastic tournament.”
