Did you think Mystery Bounty tournaments had gone unnoticed by EuroRounders' staff? From the 3rd to the 8th of April, at King's Resort in Rozvadov, Czech Republic, the €1 million guaranteed Euro Poker Million will be held in the most captivating last year's format!
After the astounding results recorded at the France Poker Festival last 5 March (4,679 entries in the edition won by Vladyslav Pohribnyi) and at the IPS 52nd edition a month earlier (4,933 entries in the edition won by Ran Shahar) it was necessary to keep the pace and EPM Mystery Bounty is just what was needed.
In the last two editions, the Euro Poker Million recorded 2,285 entries in the 'Spring Edition' won by Romanian Stefan Drusca on 10 April and 1,913 in the September edition, with Aliaksei Chernak raising-up the EuroRounders' Club to the sky.
EPM Mystery Bounty
The Euro Poker Million in the Mystery Bounty format will be staged at King's Resort in Rozvadov from the 3rd to the 8th of April. It will include 8 Day1s (as well as the Sunday morning Turbo flight, absent from the last September edition), 4 Satellites, and 4 Side Events for a total of €1,085,000 in guaranteed prize money.
In addition to the €1 million guaranteed Main Event, there will be space for two €10,000 GTD Side Events each (with a cap of 180 players), a €15,000 GTD Side Event and the €1,100 buy-in and €50,000 GTD High Roller tournament with a cap of 250 players.
What is Mystery Bounty?
For those of you who have been on the Moon for the past year and a half, Mystery Bounty tournaments are one of the newest features (online first and live later), the new frontier of the Bounty format that has been so successful recently.
Unlike classic Bounty and Progressive KOs, Mystery Bounty will only enter the Bounty mode in the late stages of the tournament (Bounty will be active from Day 2, with 12% of the field in play).
Approximately 40% of the prize pool will be redistributed in bounties of different values, as many as the number of players qualified for Day 2. When a player is eliminated, his or her bounty winner will receive an envelope containing a bounty of a mysterious amount, ranging from a minimum of €200 to a maximum of €100,000.
EPM Mystery Bounty - The Main Event
Unlike the IPS Festival, which included at least one Side Event each day, EPM Mystery Bounty is a concentrate of adrenaline packed into six days of play, including all Day1s, with little room for the rest.
Except for Wednesday the 3rd, in fact, from Thursday to Saturday there will be two qualifying flights every day: the first in "Normal" format with 40-minute levels starting at noon (on Thursday) and at 11:00 (Friday and Saturday), while the second in "Speed" format with 30-minute levels (every day until Saturday starting at 18:00).
The highlight is still Sunday with the Turbo flight (20 minutes per level) at 11:00 and the Day 2 (50 minutes per level) starting at 17:00.
Remember that all Day1s will be played down to 12% of the field. ITM zone will begin once 10% of the field has been reached, while the Mystery Bounty mode will be active from the start of Day 2 for all qualifiers.
The Final Day is set for Monday with the start at 14:00 and live streaming with Italian commentary on our Youtube channel which, if you haven't already done so, we invite you to subscribe to and activate the🔔 bell.

EPM Mystery Bounty - Practical bits of advice
If Texas Hold'em poker is anything but an exact science, Mystery Bounty tournaments are even less so. The reason for this is simple: in both regular KOs and Progressive KOs the bounty amount is a given, and it is therefore possible to calculate the expected value (EV) of a given action allowing us to make appropriate adjustments to our game strategy.
In the case of Mystery Bounty, the only data we can have at our disposal is the average bounty amount considering all bounties in play at that precise moment. Even in this case, however, we will never have a precise idea of how profitable (or not) a certain move will be in a given scenario.
Do not mess up with your strategy: The idea of getting your hands on the €100,000 bounty could upset any plan, indeed it is still a poker tournament and to do well you need to master a solid basic strategy (apart from luck, always necessary as in poker, as in life). So, our first hint is to play at our best using what we're confident at, instead of pursuing a 5-figure prize out of (approx.) 300 available bags. Some will be luckier than others, that's true, but if we expose ourselves to excessive risks (thus compromising our tournament life) to get a mystery bounty, we preclude ourselves from going all the way through. Trying out morning Day1s: To some of you it might seem like a trifle, but it's not. This is because the extra 10 minutes per level guaranteed by the "Normal" flight (40-minute blinds instead of 30), guarantees that extra bit of playability necessary to develop one's strategy in the best possible way.
Getting to Day 2 at any rate: the opportunities to get into the 12% of the field are there and they are many. Eight qualifying flights with a maximum of 2 re-entries each should be enough, except for (not so) rare caes of bad runs, to carry a stack to the next day. Especially in a Mystery Bounty tournament, going into Day 2 with a chance to draw the heaviest envelope regardless of the size of your stack is an added incentive to qualify at any rate or so.
Planning the day: OK to hit Day 2, but what's the point of being tired at the most important stage of the tournament where decisions can shift thousands and thousands of euros on either side of the table? As in this case, and the same goes in all tournaments spread over several days, it is fundamental to know how best to manage one's resources in view of what could be a real marathon, poker-wise of course. It is not easy to sit (and concentrate) for a dozen hours a day (if not more), let's take note of that.
