Entries 56/ Left 9

Day 1B of the European Championship of Poker Main Event has just wrapped up, recording a total of 56 entries and sending another 9 players through to Day 2 on Sunday. All qualifiers have already secured a place in the money, as action in the Day 1 flights stops when 15% of the field remains.

The day's standout performer was a familiar face at King’s Resort, Germany’s Mephisto, who bagged over 500,000 chips. This not only secured him the Day 1B chip lead but also put him at the top of the overall chip count. After the session, he shared his thoughts on the day:

“I tried playing yesterday as well, fired three bullets, but it didn’t go too well. With only a few players left and late registration still open, it made sense for me to jump in and try to reach the money by waiting for just one elimination. But my plan went up in smoke, so I came back today.

This time, everything went smoothly—I played just one bullet, and finished as the chip leader, so I have to say it was a satisfying day. Now, I just hope the run continues in the next few days because making the money alone won’t be enough to cover my expenses.”

Alongside the already mentioned Mephisto, who bagged 527,500 chips, we find France’s Axel Bayou in second place. A regular at King’s Resort, he finished the day with 526,000 chips—just 1,500 behind the chip leader.

In third place is Germany’s Mr. Backhand with 386,000, followed by two fellow countrymen: Daagobert with 364,000 and Randy Marsh with 285,000.
