It was a day with a special flavor last night in the Perla Resort poker room. Not because anything memorable happened on this 19th of February, except for my father having his birthday or some of your other friends/acquaintances. (Ah was it yours? Happy birthday then!)
Rather because, after the European record in terms of entries achieved a few weeks ago on the occasion of the 50th edition of the Italian Poker Sport, with the 200K-grant Grand Final we managed to bring back to Perla Resort a tournament with over a thousand entrants: 1,036 to be specific.
Top 5
Andro Scarpa made the best out of his day, securing 2,478,000 in chips to be used on the Final Day, which at the start corresponded to over 150BB.
The spot that made him fly came just a few hands from the end and saw him flatten a 3-bet in a 3-way pot to then check-call two streets and check-raise on the river for a pot of over a million chips on 8♠️4♣️ 8♦️ K❤️ 7❤️, with his opponent managing to find the fold despite being left with around 350,000 behind.
Second place for the Day2A chipleader and Re Mida winner in August 2021, with 2,277,000, followed by Michele Caroli (photo below), $287,977 in gross live tournament winnings, and third in the overall count at 1,853,000 chips.
Fourth place went to Simone Raffaele Maglianella, who started 14th today at just under 400,000 and reached 1,797,000 chips, while the Top 5 was closed by the excellent Alessandro Longobardi, who was the star of both Day1 and Day2B and with $1,155,456 accumulated in his career in live tournaments, at 1,792,000 chips.
Happened at Day2C
Excellent performance for one of the few women still remaining in the competition, Lorena Del Treppo (22nd at 846,000), who started off with a good stack and was able to handle the situation as best she could.
Vincenzo Perrupato, 14th with 921,000, with his look that reminds us so much of the legend Doyle Brunson. (photo below)
It was a quiet day for Nicola Angelini, who started with just over 100,000 chips and ended with around double of it (he'll finish 87th at 213,000), which is worth around fifteen blinds at tomorrow's start.
The bubbly Aris Theodoridis (photo below) did something better: despite his late registration, entering Day2 directly, in the space of three levels he racked up more chips than he had put in his bag at the end of the day, suddenly taking the lead at the start of the Day2C. It will be 535,000 for an honest 47th place and a stack just under the average.
Andrea Fossati, who finished 26th with 761,000, Day1G chipleader Francesco Unguendoli, 32nd with 701,000, and Davide Cojaniz with 595,000, also did well.
On the other hand, those who failed to live up to expectations were Danilo Colomba (photo below), who just couldn't get into gear today and had to be content with taking 104,000 chips to the Final Day, in the hope that they would pay off.

The 200K guaranteed prize pool was largely exceeded thanks to the €293,000 collected in the various Day1s. All 103 finalists have already secured €850, with progressive steps from 75th position organized as follows.
