We were expecting a decidedly intense day and we haven't been disappointed by yesterday's numbers: 1,012 entries, more than in any previous flight, and 219 more qualified for Day 2 of the Italian Poker Open.
The maximum number of bookings possible has already been reached for today, and latecomers will have to get in line and hope for some early elimination. There are two scheduled flights today: Day 1 F starting at 12 noon and Day 1 G (turbo) scheduled for 7 pm.

"I started the day very short by losing about half a stack. The wind then changed and after a few levels, I found myself handling over a hundred big blinds, which allowed me to express my game to the fullest.
The biggest luck on this day was finding players willing to pay me when I had value, as well as being able to place good bluffs at the right moments.
There were two occasions in particular where they didn't believe me and there I managed to increase my stack significantly. Then, in the final phase, I took off also thanks to some favorable crosses against short-stack players: in one of the last hands, for example, I found myself calling a shove with a pair of tens with my opponent turning 10-9 off..."
This is not the first deep run in a tournament for the Italian player, although his score on Hendonmob is waiting for a significant update given the $11,000 he has accumulated in his career to date.
The chances of closing Day 2 on a high note are all there, as he will start tomorrow with around 150 big blinds from the provisional second position in the overall count.
Completing the Day 1 podium is Michal Kludak (687,000( and Armand Matti (624,000).
The other qualifiers
There is no shortage of illustrious names in this round too, starting with the EPT champion of records Giuliano Bendinelli, who with 343,000 chips occupies 19th place in the ranking.
Position number 46 for Claudio Di Giacomo (256,000), who finally manages to clear the first hurdle after failed attempts in the previous days. Further back are Simone Ferretti (229,000), Andrea Shehadeh (193,000), Carlo Savinelli (148,000), Fabio Peluso (139,000), Zlatin Penev (139,000), Giacomo Grossi (109,000), Francesco Del Foco (93,000) and Salvatore Bonavena (82,000).
No luck for Alessandro Giordano and Giada Fang as well as for Luigi D'Alterio (who got off to a great start on Day), Matteo Calzoni, Dario Minieri, Davide Nutarelli Marco Perra, and Alessio Isaia.
