Entries 50/ Left 5
Day 1A of the EPS Main Event, with a €1 million guaranteed prize pool here at the King's Resort in Rozvadov, concluded towards the end of the fourteenth level of play, out of the 16 initially scheduled, as the field was reduced to 10%.
There were 50 total entries in this first flight of the week, and once the field shrank to 5 players remaining, the Tournament Director brought out the bags two levels early.
Today's best performance belongs to Germany's (despite his Greek origins) Dimitrios Nanos (pic below), who bagged a 705.000 stack in chips. Here's what he told us at the end of the day:
"I had some good cards and accumulated a robust stack heading into Day 2. The key hand? It was a 3-way pot where, after an open and a flat call, I decided to 3-bet with Q-Q.
The flop was Q high with two hearts. The Original Raiser bet, and I called. The turn was a 6, and we went all in.
My opponent showed Q-6, making him already drawing dead. Is this the first time I’ve finished Day 1A as a chip leader? At King’s, yes, it’s my first time, but not the first time overall!"
La Top 5
As for the Top 5, with only five qualifiers today, there’s little room for error. The previously mentioned Dimitrios Nanos leads the pack, sitting on 705,000 chips. Following him is "Turkey" from Turkey with 515,000 chips.
Ioannis Nanos is in third place, keeping it in the family with 483,000 chips. Italian Michele Dacunto, with 466,000, and Serbian Paja Palcer, with 307,000, complete the top five. Below is the complete list of all five qualifiers.
