Entries 884/ Left 111
The Day 1E of the Italian Poker Sport Main Event concluded about half an hour ago, recording 884 entries and advancing 111 players to Day 2 on Sunday.
The best performer of the day was Italy’s Pettino Finocchi, who bagged 1,356,000 chips by the end of play. Here are his immediate thoughts:
“Am I the tournament chip leader? Fantastic! Do I win something?” jokes Peppino, who still secures a ticket to the European Poker Festival and another to the King’s Million in March. “My tournament started without much noise, I built my stack in the late stages.”
The key hand? “I 3-bet a player’s open with A-A, he 4-bet, I 5-bet all-in, and he called after thinking for about five minutes. That pot brought me up to 800,000, and from that moment on, it was easier to accumulate chips because, with so much manoeuvring space, I could attack certain spots without necessarily going to showdown.”
“No, it’s not the first time I’ve finished as chip leader on a Day 1, and in a tournament like this, playing Day 2 is a completely different game. I don’t have a particularly aggressive style, I push when it’s time to push—opportunities must be seized!”
