Entries 557/Left 69

The second and final flight of the day is officially in the books here at King’s Resort in Rozvadov, on what began as Saturday, April 13 — though as we write this, it’s already Sunday morning, just past 5 AM.
Day 1G closed with a total of 557 entries, including 166 re-entries and 391 unique players, with 69 players advancing to Sunday’s Day 2.
The unexpected star of the day was Germany’s Josef Hermann Schmalzbauer, who not only topped the Day 1G chip count but also took the overall lead, bagging an impressive 2,129,000 chips.
Clearly thrilled with his performance — especially considering he hadn’t set foot in a casino for nearly a decade — here’s what he told us right after sealing the bag.

“I think the last time I played a tournament was eight years ago, so this has definitely been a fun comeback. I’m not a professional player — not at all — but I enjoyed myself and, of course, I got lucky in a few spots. One of the biggest hands came after a few clashes with the same opponent; in the end, I had two pair, he had top pair, and I got the best of it.
Apparently, I’m the overall chip leader now — really? I didn’t expect that! They told me I’ve already won two tickets: one for the EPF and one for the People’s Poker Tour, with a total value of €890. That’s amazing. I think I have around 2.2 million chips, while the second biggest stack is at 1.6M, so it’s a solid lead. Let’s see how far this run can go!”
Top 5
As for the Top 5, in addition to the already mentioned chip leader Josef Hermann Schmalzbauer with 2,129,000, we find Constantin Coteanu from Romania with 1,105,000, followed by Germany’s Robo39 with 973,000.
Rounding out the Top 5 are Piotr Sarbaev from Moldova with 944,000, and Attila Janos Salmasi from Hungary with 887,000. Below is the full chip count list with all 69 players who qualified through Day 1H.
