🇮🇹 Tommaso Fornasiero lifts the trophy at 🦈Sharkbay Grand Final 2024!

Entries 683

The final act of the Sharkbay Grand Final 2024 concluded at 6 a.m. at the Perla Resort & Entertainment in Nova Gorica in a way that didn’t favour spectacle but still left everyone satisfied.

Reaching the final table with ten players at 4 a.m., and with the poker room needing to close by 6 a.m., as per internal regulations, players were offered the option to resume the tournament the following day at 2:00 p.m. sharp to continue under standard tournament rules.

If even one player had disagreed or could not return, the tournament would have ended at 6 a.m., with prizes redistributed based on the ICM model according to the stacks in play.

The players took a short break after a level and a half of play without any eliminations. At the end of the break, the floorman checked whether conditions were met to continue the tournament the following day.

Everyone agreed except for one player, who, due to personal reasons, wouldn’t have been able to return on time. The management also rejected alternative times or dates, so ICM was chosen.

Another twenty minutes of play brought the tournament to its conclusion: Tommaso Fornasiero, the chip leader at the time, claimed the largest share of the prize pool and secured, albeit on points, his first trophy in an internationally recognized tournament like Sharkbay, which is hosted in various locations across Europe. This also marked the best result of his career:

I’m delighted; this is my best career result in terms of earnings, and even though it ended this way, it’s still great to win the trophy.

Overall, I’m very satisfied with my performance. I think I managed to bring out my best during some key moments on Day 2, making a few great hero calls and extracting value when it was there to be taken. Now, though, could you take a picture with my phone? I need to send it to my son!

Here is the final payout after the deal was reached based on the ICM model:
