Entries 84/ Left 20
The second day of action here at Casino Velden am Wörthersee has come to an end. Day 1B of the Sharkbay Main Event had 84 entries, and 20 players advanced to Day 2 on Sunday.
Combining both Day 1s played so far, we now have 158 entries (including re-entries) and 32 qualifiers, with two more flights on Saturday and the Turbo flight on Sunday still to come.
Austrian player Norbert Hajos is taking the spotlight today; he surged to the top of the chip count in the final levels of play, closing with 473,000 chips. Here’s what he had to say:
“It was my third bullet today, and the first two didn’t go well. As a cash game player, I thought of sitting at a table, but they were all full, and I didn’t want to wait…
On the third attempt, everything went smoothly. I started accumulating chips, and here I am!
I play poker regularly, almost exclusively live cash games, and occasionally, I treat myself to a tournament like this one. The field? Fantastic, though I didn’t have any Italians at my table. I can’t wait to return to the tables next Sunday with this stack!”
La Top 5
Norbert Hajos, with his 473,000 chips, is the only player to surpass the 400K mark. The second, Lukas Streit, is quite a distance behind with 315,000, followed by Italian Francesco Spinella (295,000), who made a notable preflop hero fold with Q-Q. The hand played out when he opened from BTN, and the SB shoved for over 40BB.
In fourth place is Austrian Karl-Heinz Reinsberger with 275,000, followed by another Italian, Luca Quilichini, a EuroRounders regular, who finishes with 269,000 after consistently being near the top of the chip count throughout the day.
Below is the complete list of the 20 qualifiers and their respective stacks. Check out our live blog at THIS LINK for a full recap of the day’s action.
