Entries 84/ Left 31
It was a great Day 1 that just ended at the GCPoker Room in Bendern, Liechtenstein, which saw 84 entries (including re-entries) and 31 qualifiers for Day 2, bringing the total number of entries to 175.
As we write this, Day 1 D is underway and the guaranteed prize pool, with the late registration open for the first 3 levels of Day 2 and the regressive formula, could be crossed in the next few hours.
Numbers aside, the news of the day is the return in a big way of Roberto Begni, chip leader of the day with 565,600, who, as he told us, spends a good half of the year in Vegas and has recently come back home, not missing the opportunity take part at The Wolf High Roller:
"Let's just say that I've been spending a bit more time in Ticino lately, in my neck of the woods, because I'm renovating my house. Why am I here? I truly like the location, I have several friends and, tonight at the table, the atmosphere was absolutely enjoyable.
I'm pleased to have closed as chip leader, is it possible that when I do there is no extra prize? - jokes Roberto - Apart from anything else, this is one of those tournaments that suits me, for buy-in, structure, field. When I've closed as chip leader, I've always done well, so who knows, maybe it won't happen this time too...
As for today, the three rounds in which I started ahead held up, strangely enough! I'm hoping to get some results that have been missing for a while in tournaments, whereas in Vegas playing mostly cash I can't complain. There's always action, there are a lot of tourists, you can pick and choose tables and levels, if you do this for a living it's hard not to close in profit."
The Top 5
Immediately after the Italian-Swiss Roberto Begni, we find the Swiss Thomas Hofmann (519,700), insatiable after the 7,000 Swiss francs deal struck at the opening of the day together with Stefano Iolli and "Champion 1905".
He is followed a few blinds behind Pascal Misteli (475,000), while in fourth position we find Bartolomeo Tato (finalist at the last Sharkbay) with 405,400, followed by the unfailing Andreas Frƶhli at 384,200.
Other regulars from the area also passed the Day, including "Emilia" (311,400), "N13 professor" (171,000), Lorenzo Arduini (116,800) and Matteo Spozio (114,900). The full list of qualifiers follows.
