Entries 246/ Left 18
The 200K guaranteed Wolf High Roller closed with 246 entries and 242,100 Swiss francs, at least regarding the raw numbers. And even though we are here to tell you about the chronicle of the tournament, it is dutiful to open with a big thank you to all the participants who made it possible for us to reach this new small goal.
From the first edition of The Wolf, with a 20,000 euro guaranteed prize pool to the organization of a festival spread over two weeks, with 500,000 francs distributed over a dozen events, including two 200,000 euro Main events each, the growth has been exponential. And the credit, in addition to those who work within Eurorounders, goes, above all, to the players who, tournament after tournament, continued to follow us and showed their appreciation.
Premises aside, 18 players made it through to this afternoon's Final Day after a battle that lasted over ten hours. Thirty players went on to win a CHF2,205 min-cash. Among them, the Greek Symeon Alexandridis (pictured below) managed to pull off a brilliant performance, closing with almost twice as many chips as the second-placed finisher.
"Frankly speaking, the field I encountered today was softer than the one I faced on Day 1," - Symeon told us at the end of the day -, "probably because I found myself at the table with 4/5 well-prepared regulars against whom it was not easy to build up a stack.
I started with 200,000 chips, and the day got off to a terrible start as I lost about half my stack in the first few hands, though the structure helped for great play, and I slowly managed to work my way up the count. There weren't any particular spots worth mentioning, except one hand where I had a set on the flop and managed to hit a full house on a board that matched my opponent's runner-runner trips.
Actually, what made the difference today was winning a nice flip in a tricky situation! That changed the direction of my tournament, and finally, I would say! I think I've lost with A-K the last 30 times I've gone all-in or so, but this time luck was on my side and I can't complain!"
The Top 5
The second in chips is Giuseppe Biancoviso, chip leader at Day 1 B and able to maximize his initial advantage by taking 2 million round chips to the Final Day. He is followed at a distance of over half a million by the Swiss "GhostFish" (1,420,000), while Mariano Monti (1,270,000) and Alexandros Dimogiorgis (1,255,000) complete the Top 5.
Also qualifying for the Final Day are "Damage" (same stack as Dimogiorgis), Day 1 C chip leader Roberto Begni (970,000), and White Wolf winner Dorjan Ushe (935,000). The full list of qualifiers follows.
